Well i guess i'll just put my 2cents in....i have worked since i was 14 and now im 27. im in the same line of work [retail] and im getting paid less than i ever had.. My husband and i are able and willing to work as much as we can, but our hours were cut to part time and we can not after about 6 months of lookign find another job or get more hours, we can not afford health insurance and thankfully we dont need it.. If we do get sick or get pregnant [we are not parentsand we are not planning to any time soon ] i have no clue what we will do....so......just to give everybody reading this an idea of what is really going on in middle class america....most of us are screwed even though we are trying to make our situation better. And if i ever made more than i needed i would glady give to charity and help those who need it... Btw we are not on welfare... We just dont eat that much and skip movies and the bs we just dont need

Gotta love these quotes on the website:
"Get off your ass, go to school, and read a book – most of the world would kill for the opportunity." - Athenswriter

“A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have… The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.”

-Thomas Jefferson (or maybe Gerald Ford)
THIS IS POSTED DIRECTLY ON THE "What JASB is all about" LINK ON THIS WEBSITE!

This is the most hypocritical shit I've ever seen.

Pretty much option E. I have no problem helping those who are willing to help themselves, but this is not the way to do it. This is simply another entitlement program that enables more people to not have to help themselves, and its using the money of the people who put themselves in a position of success.

I also hate the welfare system. Hunger can be a huge motivator. As heartless as it sounds, I don't want to support people who haven't an iota of ambition to become something greater than what they are. People who have settled on the way of life that a welfare check, food stamps, and now healthcare can afford them are useless members of society.

As more and more entitlement programs are put into effect, more and more people will lose the desire to achieve. These new forms of legislated laziness need to stop, or soon there will be no pride or forward progress whatsoever in this country. People need to be held accountable for their choices and actions, good or bad. By cushioning some peoples' bad decisions by feeding off others' good decisions, both parties lose. Badly.

Response to:
A: You show me a well bodied person who truly cannot afford health insurance, and I will show you someone who isn't working hard enough.

B: Everyone already has the opportunity to use the emergency room all they want, even if they don't have insurance.

C: The deductible is YEARLY. You will know how it works in a few years when your parents aren't taking care of it for you. So when you have the 2nd large medical bill, you are already up to your deductible.

D: It is affecting you. The rich people and companies that are being taxed and penalized are the same ones that we all buy our goods from. The money comes from somewhere. And it affects the country you live in when we keep spending money that we don't have. If you love your country, you would want it to succeed.

E: I am 100% honest when i say that I do not care about people that do not want to help themselves. If someone is physically disabled, or mentally incapable of functioning as a normal person, I agree with any government program out there to give them a hand, (or foot). I even believe in government assistance for people who fall on bad times. I believe it should be very limited and strict. The problem is when you help people all the time, they forget how to help themselves, or simply do not care to. They become dependents of the state, and they have lots of children, who rarely have a future better than their parents. And this cycle goes on and on, simply because someone never tells them that they cant keep taking something for nothing.

A. Decent private health-care is too expensive and everyone can't afford it. Period.

B. Everyone deserves to be taken care of when they are sick, even if you self righteous assholes think differently. We were not all born on even ground - so we should help them out!

C. Asshole conservative: Your insurance is shitty! You assume you or your kids will never get sick! Sure if you never get sick you will save some money, but anyone who has children knows doctors visits WILL happen. If you get sick twice, you're fucked. Plus, my whole argument is that decent health care is too expensive in the first place. It's like not having full coverage on your car, sure you will save money, but you wreck your car and get stuck with buying a new one out of pocket, your done. Not logical.

D. Also everyone says if you love the health-care bill so much how is it benefiting you? Well in short, it won't really effect me. It will effect the super rich who will be taxed a little more (.9%) and the poor who currently have no insurance. I will be virtually unaffected, but I think its better for society as a whole.

E. If you assholes would just be honest I'd stop debating. Just admit you could care less about the poor and their children, you don't care if they get help, in fact you don't think they deserve it. You want the money you earn, regardless of any advantages I or anyone else was born with. It's my money and I want to keep it, fuck everyone else. Right?

@Asshole Conservative: I'm interested in the healthcare bill because I think it is a major problem cropping up in society. Since I'm a member of society, I'd like to see it fixed. It isn't different than being a male in your mid 20's with no children and single, but being concerned with the education system! Having a good education system will help the people of society as a whole, which is good for me, you and everyone else!

As for your logic in comment #23, not too bad. Anything that forces transparency on the market and empowers people to make clear decisions easily is alright in my book! That is essentially the same thing I propose we do, but kind of reverse (transparency forced on healthcare providers over health insurance providers.) I say we force it on both.

But you want my plan, so here it is. Force hospitals and doctors to be upfront with their pricing which will dive competitive prices saving the cost to the insurance companies, which should bring premiums down. Next, encourage heath insurance companies to give discounts for people that do not drink, smoke, or weigh twice the average person. They could also give discounts to people who get regular checkups and keep in good physical shape. And let the market do what it always does. The government hasn't actually found a way to make health insurance prices go down. They are merely taking money from people who work hard for it, and giving it to people who don't, so that they can buy insurance. We are still going to be paying the same amount for insurance.

Shanoboy: you still wont answer my question about how this will affect you to make you love the healthcare bill so much? Is it going to be cheaper for you?

Also, buying cheap healthcare for your kid is not child neglect or abuse. It is simply a financial risk. You still need to take your kid to the doctor if it gets sick. You could overpay for premiums you hardly use, and over pay in premiums, or you could pay cheap premiums, and end up over paying in dr visits. It really could go either way. Let me remind you of the person i mentioned above that saved 15K betting on the fact that they would not get any bad illnesses while in college and didn't purchase health insurance at all. If my insurance was not free where I worked, I would have the cheapest insurance I could buy. I hardly ever go to the doctor, and I only need coverage if I have a major accident or health problem that would threaten me financially, in which case i would be covered.

Oh, and Athenswriter: the $2500 deductible is nothing when compared to the savings in the premiums. I know you may have a little trouble with math, like you do grammar and spelling, so I'll give you a hand. If you paid $63 instead of $300 a month, you would save $2844 a year. That is $344 savings if you end up having to pay your $2500 deductible. And if you remain healthy all year, you are out Nothing! you just get to walk away with that $2844 in your pocket! When you get out in the real world and start experiencing these things, it will all make sense to you one day. Ask your parents about it.

What I cant figure out is, why he@lth insur@nce is warranted as such a necessity of life. If i had the choice to go without a roof over my head, 3 meals a day, clothing, and he@lth insur@nce, I believe i could go without he@lth insur@nce first. It is estimated that over 1 million people are homeless in America. I'm pretty sure they would rather have a place to live than he@lth insur@nce. And now they are going to get finned for not having he@lth insur@nce.
