Robots Have No Hope With Out God

Johnny 5In the endless pursuit of making my life less pathetic, I started taking evening programming classes at a local tech college.

One of my instructors pointed us to his personal website where we could download class materials and I started having a look around. It turns out that in addition to being a programmer he’s also a talented poet. Here’s a little nugget of literary excellence for your reading pleasure!

Thanks for the inspiration Mr. Salhaney. Perhaps through the wonders of artificial intelligence Johnny Five may indeed one day become ALIVE!

Artificial Intelligence

I have a little robot.
I built him by myself.
And ‘though I know him inside out,
I know he’s not an elf.

He has no brain
or fingers, nimble.
If I don’t watch,
He’ll take a tumble.

To create a brain
Would be a feat.
But brains AND feet
Would be more neat.

Arms and graspers
I can add.
Kits of sensors
Can be had.

Gears and motors,
Wires and string!
Small projectiles
He can fling.

So, with great inventiveness,
He will bring much happiness.

But, will wisdom
E’re be found?
As he rolls
Along the ground.

Great computer brains
Have bytes and Mips.
But, will we find understanding
In the chips?

Only God gives wisdom;
Understanding, too.
Look to Him
For guidance, true.
