Patience is a virtue, laziness is not.
On my way home from work Friday evening, I stopped at the local store to pick up some cokes and cashews to stock up for the Easter weekend and next week. This store is in the least populated part of the small town that I live near. After picking up my items and quickly getting in line, I notice that only one of two registers is open. This is typical for this store and many other stores where there are not many people to fill the jobs required for a fully staffed operation. The reason there was only one register open was because there was obviously only two people in the entire store. One was running the register, while the other was busy stocking shelves. As I’m patiently waiting in line, I begin to sense the patience of others running out. Finally, the woman in front of me can no longer stand the wait and politely demands that the stocker take over the register so that the customers can get out faster.
While the woman in front of me gets checked out, I notice that she’s swiping some odd card through the credit/debit card thingamajig. I started to wonder to myself, damn, is this lady trying to use food stamps? Sure enough, I heard the cashiers drop the term food stamps. I hate to be a hard ass here, but what gives? Where does this lady think she gets the right to start ordering other people around? These people are WORKING!! They are doing their jobs to the best of their ability. You know why its so damn slow lady? Because bitches like you won’t get off your sorry worthless asses and get a job! She wasn’t crippled. I saw no children. She had a man with her. She had management skills apparently!!
Frustrating to me, no doubt. I wrote it off as typical white trash that I should come to expect and not worry about until I SAW HER RIDE OFF IN HER MAN/BF/HUSBAND’S NEW, BRAND NEW, BRAND SPANKING NEW FULL SIZE PICK-UP TRUCK!!
Hear I am, busting my ass for 40 hours a week in the city, driving a car knocking on the door of 200,000 miles. I wait patiently, quietly, and understandingly in line because I understand what it’s like to work with a skeleton crew. Look, I’m not asking for a medal, I just look at bitches and assholes like this and say, hey, I want my friggin money back. If you can afford that lifestyle I saw you just ride off in, I don’t think I need to pay for your meals, and the people who actually get off their asses don’t need you to boss them around.
DAMN.
